Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have long been quite the romantic item, ever since their first Twilight days. So, one would think that the two hot young stars may have started out as friends and are now great pals (and lovers), as well. Isn't friendship a necessity behind any longstanding relationship?
Apparently not for Pattinson! In an interview for German Bravo, the heart-throb, who's currently filming Cosmopolis in Toronto, was questioned if he could fall in love with a girl who was a friend. And his answer was quite unexpected.
"No. Not at all," he confessed. "I don't think that friendship can turn into a great love because one of the two feels different." At least he's honest about his feelings. But it's an interesting, somewhat shocking, perspective coming from the British actor, who seems to have not only a blossoming romance, but also a solid friendship and mutual respect for girlfriend Kristen Stewart. One has to wonder if some of Robert Pattinson's intended response was lost in German translation.
Nevertheless, translation troubles or not, many couples would probably beg to differ with Robert Pattinson's affirmation on this sensitive subject. After all, who doesn't know of at least one romance that started out as a great friendship and progressed into a successful relationship or marriage.
It seems Pattinson may have just bypassed any feelings of platonic friendship, instead falling head-over-heels in love with Kristen Stewart. Indeed, the actor admits: "I only spend time with girls who I also feel drawn to. So she had to decide whether she wants to go out with me or not."
Kristen Stewart obviously fit this R-Patz standard quite well. Here's hoping she never saw Robert Pattinson as a friend either!
