'American Idol' Scotty McCreery Clears Up...

Since the American Idol finale earlier this week, rumors have been flying about the possibility that the final two contestants in this year's competition - Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina - are in fact a couple. Scotty has now decided to clear up those rumors himself.

In a report released on Friday, Scotty said the following about his current relationship status: "I'm still single. I don't want a girl who likes me because I'm the American Idol. I just want them to like me because I'm Scotty. That's a hard thing to find, but it'll work out sometime." Lauren Alaina had this additional comment to share: "We're just really good friends. We really care about each other. Everyone wants us to like each other, but we just don't."

There you have it. American Idol sweethearts are not sweethearts. At least not right now. Even though the season of Idol is completely over, the pair will have plenty to keep them busy during the weeks ahead. They will each have their own records to start recording, and there is the summer tour for the series as well.
