This past season on Bones, they introduced the characters of an upcoming spinoff, but when the show picks up next midseason, it will be without one of those three. Who's leaving and what will it mean for the show?
The Finder loses a character
According to Entertainment Weekly, they're currently looking for a new actress for the upcoming midseason series. Saffron Burrows played Ike--Walter Sherman's (Geoff Stults) bartender and pilot--in the Bones episode, appropriately titled "Finder," in the second half of the sixth season. However, fans had some problems, specifically that "the British actress played the role with a rather striking cockney accent." So now Fox is looking "to re-conceive the role." The Finder isn't premiering until January, when it will take over the Thursday 9PM time slot from Bones because of Emily Deschanel's maternity leave, so there is some time.
When the characters were first introduced, it definitely looked like a show that could (and should get the chance to) stand on its own, and Fox was smart to pick it up. Of the three characters introduced, however, Ike did stand out as the one that could potentially be re-cast without any uproar from fans (Stults definitely did a good job as Walter, and it was impossible not to like Michael Clarke Duncan as the poetry-reciting bodyguard/lawyer). It's no surprise they're recasting the role, and it will be interesting to see what happens with the role and who's playing it when the show premieres next year.
Are you surprised Saffron Burrows isn't going to be in The Finder?
