Labor Day weekend 2011 will be the host of NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600. The race is getting a little boost from the forthcoming Disney-Pixar Cars 2 movie. The voice of Mater, Larry the Cable Guy, will be driving the honorary pace car, which is a special Cars 2 car.
The word is that Kimberly-Clark is plotting a full own multi-product effort leading up to the Cars 2 release date, which means that they are likely quite thrilled about a part of the franchise being involved in this upcoming weekend's race.
The 52nd running of the Coca-Cola 600 will be on Saturday, May 28 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Of his upcoming adventure, the voice of Mater said, "I am excited to Git R Done in the pace car at Charlotte Motor Speedway and lead the field to the start of NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600. It will be an honor to be a part of the most patriotic pre-race show in America."
The Cars franchise has a long history with the Charlotte Motor Speedway. In 2006, it hosted the world premier of the movie. There were 35,000 fans on hand to see it. There is no doubt that combining the voice of Mater with the Coca-Cola 600 will be a great experience for both NASCAR and the Cars franchise. By the way, Cars 2 is set to hit theaters on June 24. Tune in to FOX at 6 p.m. EDT on Saturday to catch the race.
