As a kid, what was the best part of summer holidays?? I think that mine would have to be the drive over to the little fish and chip shop for a cone of chips... at 15 cents a cone... Ahhh, to be a kid again! What is your favorite summer memory??
Waking up at 6am and walking outside to help my mom in the garden, going to flea markets and yard sales, playing games with friends and going swimming.
It was, luckily I can still do those ;) Well, gardening I have to walk a half mile to my grandmothers since our gardens soil is going bad. I almost decided to surprise her this morning though.
Going to the beach. My best friend's dad had a shop in Santa Monica, so we would ride with him to work early in the morning. We would hang around his shop until the morning haze burned off, and then we would walk to the beach until it was time for her dad to go home again. Sigh....
I had no mountains close by to even look at, so I can't even imagine what that would have been like. Now that I think about it, the land was pretty much flat everywhere! My daughter would have loved that!
Hanging out with my best friend and little sister and doing pretty much whatever we wanted. We would stay up late playing video games (Super Nintendo), sleep until noon, then ride our bikes all over the place (20-30 miles most days).
Then in Junior High my best friend got a computer with internet and a trampoline, so those things worked their way prominently into the schedule. ;) By the time she got a swimming pool, we had pretty much given up on our bikes, other than to actually transport us places we needed to go (mainly between each other's houses).
I'm still thinking about that 20 to 30 miles every day!! Wow... your days must have started early and ended late. I will bet you slept like a log though!!
If I liked summer I might find a favorite thing, then there are the wonderful yet, rare cool nights with breezes which allows for a long walk before bed without sweating!
I don't remember nights when it's was unbearably hot although there probably were some. Most nights I fell into bed exhausted so probably never noticed lol!
remember when school started and you had the write something about what you did during the summer. We never did anything or go any where, went to visit my great grandmother in Missouri. Which wasn't very often.
Leaving the house some time after breakfast and playing with my friends all day long, with no supervision of any kind, until the street lights came on.
