I see purple is your favorite color too. I also was raised in the city till I was around 13 and then moved to the burbs. My youngest is also 27. She turned 27 last Sept. Nice to always learn a few things from our Gather family. Thanks for stopping by Melaine!

I joined Gather in Aug 2006 as well.

2. What is your least favorite? Pink. I didn't mind putting it on my girls when they were little, but I really don't like the color other than baby clothes. My husband grew up in a pink house, it was his mother's favorite color...and they didn't live in Florida where that is common, but in New York...

3. What state where you born in? a northern state, but I lived most of my childhood in New Jersey

4. Where you raised in a city or the country? Mostly the burbs... we moved a lot

8. Where you named after a family member? No. My mother named me after an actress named Heather Angel after watching her in "Suspicion" that starred Cary Grant.

10. Have you ever met another Gather member in person? Yes, two friends, one who lived up North came down to visit her friend, another Gather member and we met for lunch in Tampa. My husband brought me down and I had a good time. One of the other ladies posted an article and photos. :)

I see your least favorite color is pink too. I like you didn't mind putting those colors on my daughter when she was very little. Weren't too many choices then for little girls. My early years to my early 30's I lived in different parts of Jersey. My childhood was spent in North Jesey, just a short distance from the hudson river. We eventually landed in central Jersey, a surburan area. Things were certainly different, and kinda boring.
Thats pretty nice that you had an opportunity to meet other Gathers. Seems no one ever lives anywhere remotely close to me. I'm glad you thought it was a good idea Heather. I mostly lived in Passaic County, but my father's relatives lived in Bergen. :) My late Great aunt lived in North Bergen for over 50 years... she moved from there to Florida when she was 100 and could no longer live on her own...and passed away a year later.

Bergen county was right next door. I lived in Hudson. spent many fun filled days in a beautiful park there. The lake had a row boat, or paddle boat. We would feed the ducks too. Have you ever been to Palisades Park? Most people in North Jersey back then where familar with it, or have been there. Oh the memories!

Hey Lori good to see you as always! Ohio is a big state. Been there only once. So your a country gal. There are many others on Gather who were raised in the country. I too have been a Gather member for three years. It will be four in October. This is the longest site I have ever been on. I enjoy interacting with many on here and learning different things. As a matter of fact I prefer this to Facebook. Where else can i have friends, interact with them socially and otherwise, and earn too? I only have a Facebook account for mostly family, as it seems thats the only way anyone shares anymore. Kinda sad I think. I see you have had an opportunity to meet someone from Gather at one time. None that I did not already know. I have so many friends in the Gather community that I want to meet. We have plans to go to Berea Ky to meet a member later this summer. Our oldest daughter has met at least three gather members and she loved it.

We share a love for the color purple Connie. I respect you have a love for all colors. West Virgina is absolutely beautiful! Been forever since I drove thru those parts, but I do remember what beautiful country it is. You sure have alot of animals! LOL! How do you keep up with that? lol!

My user name is the same all over the net. It is a long story about how I got "Villageanne" as a nickname or user name.

I carry a concealed weapon all the time. I do have a license to carry. My friend has never had a gun in her home. She started calling me Annie Oakley. From there it went o "Anne". Then the village came into play because I love the term "village" for an area.. It just sounds so much more inviting than city. So I became known as "VillageAnne". LOL

My maiden name is Connie Mae Lake. I am the oldest of 6 children.

LOL I now see where that came from. I did remember seeing the name and thought maybe that was it. I was the oldest of only 4. Technically 5. My mother gave birth to another child only 11 months after I was born. He was given up for adoption as my mother could not raise us both, and his father ignored paternity. I oringinally learned how to use a computer in hopes that my search in finding him would be easier, and to put my information out there on many websites. I have been searching for him for nearly thirty years.

There should be some way to find him. HUM??? That is really interesting. I wish more people would put babies up for adoption instead of abortion. I would love to have a baby to raise. We lost 4 babies but we were blessed with 2 beautiful babies that I was able to carry to term as well. For that I am thankful.

I think (and this is just my humble feelings) that if more mothers had faith in the adoption system, hence knowing the family would be good, or knowing that some day they could see them again and know they did the right thing, I believe more mothers would give up for adoption.
I am so truly sorry for your lost Connie. That from others I know is very difficult to deal with. But God did in the end grace you with beautiful babies, who in turn became the light of your life, and also gave you beautiful grandchildren.

LMBO!!!!!!!!!!! Connie, I use to shoot since I was little and they all called me "Annie Oakley" because I would outshoot all the men at 4-H. LOL Thats good that you care a gun. I have a hand gun but don't carry it around with me like I should. I need a license to carry one and dont have it just yet.

Wow almost five years on Gather! You have been on here for quite some time. I'm sure you have seen the quite a few changes on this site too. I've been here for only a little over three, and its changed so much. I prefer the way it was when I first started. But not all the changes have been bad.

I would have never believed I would end up living my adult years out in a country, let alone in a southern state, but life does have its twist and turns. I know Jersey isn't what it use to be. Even though I moved in 93 for personal reasons, I think at some point in time, I would have had to anyway. I use to want to go back so bad. But I know I could never afford to live there again. And all the friends I had are now gone. The only thing there I can say I miss is my family. Especially my mother. If you could move somewhere, do you have an idea where you would like to go?

I think both types of environments have their advantages, Dee. It's lovely to live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone else, the cost of living is low and the tempo is slow and steady. But I admit that being anonymous in a big city is great if you're a people watcher and the advantages like art galleries and museums, loads of international restaurants and interesting little neighborhoods make cities wonderful, too.

Yes living in a small town, has its advantages in the sense of there is more of a community feel. The cost of living is generally less in some respects. Real estate and taxes would be two of them. And driving the roads are much easier because of less traffic.
With regards to city living, for me the only thing I would say I miss is the conviences of stores and certain amenties being closer. Other than that I don't miss the noise, crime, or traffic lol!

I know what you mean. My husband occasionally asks if I miss Houston. I tell him there are certain places I miss, but I don't miss living in the city.

I know what you mean lol! As a kid it provided many wonderful memories. I'm glad I grew up when I did and where I did. It was never boring. But being older, I prefer the solitude and greenery.

I like Vermillion, it's sexy, powerful, bold & French (don't ask!).

Oo la la, Lady! You'll have to explain that someday! LOL.

Well first off welcome to Gather Kim! Seems purple rules on this thread lol! I lived in Florida for nearly 13 1/2 years, (central) and didn't care for it. My daughter still lives there. I moved here to Ky to purchase a house. Real estate in Florida became a joke, and the cost of living was eating me alive. I see you enjoy writing poetry. So do I. I may never be a published poet, however I get enjoyment from it, and that suits me just fine!

what part of central florida (thats where i lived too) i love florida simply because my family lives therew however i do muchg prefer living in texas. i do really enjoy writing poetry and im even published :) yay as for points and what not i just want to read and maybe contribute to others thoughts

Teal is an interesting color choice. Most of us usually have a basic color for a favorite. Of course I think it would be hard to beat Sandre's color choice lol! I never even heard of Vermillion till she mentioned it. I'm not a big fan of Yellow myself, except for certain things, such as flowers. Yellow does look good on me, however I'm not the type who like to stand out. Thats proberly why I wear dark shades most of the time. I see you were nemaed after a nun. Thats quite interesting. I too would love to met a Gather member someday. Seems no one though ever lives remotely close to my corner of the world.
