First shown in 1982 , starring Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. A simple movie of a young programmer getting zap into the electronic world of programs.
I remember watching it and enjoying it. I like playing the arcades machines more.
Now fast forward to 2011. My grandson want to see Tron: Legacy but first he want to see the original Tron. He finds a copy and sit down and we watch it together.
This time I find the movie a lot slower then I remember. Of course the effects were subpar by today's standard. The storyline is simple. Boy get trap in game. Boy make some friends in the game. Then a battle with the ultimate bad guy and wins. But I like the clean, sharp graphics. The cycles races brought back memories of the game machines.
My grandson like it a lot. He was disappointed how little Tron was in it. ( He is a big fan of the Disney's Kingdom of Heart games, in which Tron is a character.) But the graphics he really loved.
A good SF for the whole family. Recommend.
