While the first two films may have blown up at the box office, they were critically less than stellar. Even Michael Bay himself admitted that the second movie was quite simply "crap," laying the blame, not on himself of course, but on the writer's strike.
If the trailer for the third franchise installment is any indication, however, Transformers: Dark of the Moon may be an improvement on its predecessors. According to The Hollywood Reporter, at an extended 20-minute preview of the upcoming summer film yesterday "folks were left buzzing." From the trailer alone, the third film comes off as less hokey and a bit darker tonally, hence the terrible name perhaps.
Speaking of the terrible name, Transformers: Dark of the Moon doesn't exactly spill off the tongue. Just one small word short of a Led Zeppelin album, perhaps the uber-action director, Michael Bay, could have considered an alternate title. Just saying. Despite the awful title though, it's hard to argue with the Hollywood Reporter's diagnosis that this film will blow audiences away, even without the help of Megan Fox.
What do you think of the new Transformers 3 trailer? Will you be checking it out in the theaters?
