Being super intelligent means that at times you'll do things so idiotic that they'd have never come into the mind of a moron. Here's one:
An engineer had a bad problem with ants in his house. Even a moron knows you can just spray them with an insecticide. Not so Mr. Genius; he vacuumed them up. Then it occurred to him that he can't just empty the bad into the garbage. He got an epiphany!!! Bug spray should do the trick. (imagine that; it actually occurred to him that bug spray kills ants)
Now bug sprays are flammable. Even morons know that. (its says so on the label) Nevertheless, with the appliance still on, he squirted.
BOOM!!!
The next thing he remembers is waking up in the Emergency Ward of the local hospital.
That would never have happened even to an imbecile.

Thanks for sharing with The Triple Name Club.
Many are afflicted with Asberger' Syndrome but able to make their contributions anyway.
What is Asperger's Disorder?
However, either I really don't have it or mine is not a very bad case.
The engineers are taught from books, they learn the science. It is working/the nature of their work that teaches them how to apply it. I will offer that is true of every profession/degree. I would say the reason doctors have internships is so they confront reality of practicing (under the supervision of a 'real' doctor) what they learn before being turned loose on an unsuspecting public.
Of the engineers I have met some were great, but I still remember one who we would not let touch anything in the plant (the superviosr even threaten him with being chained to a chair whenever he entered the controlroom), and the guys would check with others before taking his advice.
I'm with Kerrel, 'stupid is as stupid does.'
In defense of those who are engineers, there are those who can make you understand the science and be able to apply it without their being around so you realize how smart you really are. And they came of with ideas out of nowhere with what seemed as little effort and then show how we each could see and feel part of the idea and application of it.
They made me really like engineers/scientists, but they also showed how simply having a degree does not guarantee intelligence and to be skeptical of what they say and do.
As for the bugs, if the person doesn;t stop to think about the risks associated with the idea for somehting as simple as killing bugs, RUN don;t walk away from that person because the house maybe next (with you in it).
I know that a degree in engineering might not relate to intelligence, so I chose a story from among those published by Mensa members. I guess that might mean that a high IQ test score don't necessarily mean the person is highly intelligent :-D)
My view is a truly smart person thinks through what needs to be done, recognizes they limitations and gets help (either from others or other sources of information) for life is an open book test.
When it comes to decision making/choices I will trust more to the group than to a single 'expert.' That is a main reason I resist moving decisions to governement, they use 'experts' not thinking.
I have no idea what :-D means.
Genius is a term used to justify our ignorance, our unwillingness to put the effort into learning, or to rationalize the limited social skills of others. It is usually limited to a single field of knowledge, never applied to life skills.
Stephen Hawkings is labled a 'genius', but I would not turn to him for a religious question or judgement.
