Another L.J. Smith book series is coming to the CW in the fall. The author, who is behind The Vampire Diaries, will see The Secret Circle come to life on the small screen. The series was picked up by the network today. The series will star Britt Robertson as a young girl that moves to a new town and learns she is a witch. Not only that, but she is also central in the battle of good vs. evil in the small town. Thomas Dekker also stars in the CW series.
MTV reported news of the series pickup on Tuesday. Fans of Vampire Diaries will know the man behind the series. Kevin Williamson is the executive producer of this series as well. In the recent past, Williamson made it clear that The Secret Circle and The Vampire Diaries will not have any crossovers. The plot of the new series focuses completely on witches. Gale Harold is also a part of the cast of the new series. He recently appeared on CW series, Hellcats, which was canceled today by the network.
CW seems to have become the home for supernatural and fantasy series. The network is home to both Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, and Smallville just finished its run on the network last week. This new series should be able to fit right in. No word where in the lineup the series will fall. Will it take over the spot now owned by Nikita and join The Vampire Diaries for an L.J. Smith double block of time one night a week? Fans will have to wait to find out.
