Lady Gaga is the latest celebrity to speak out about being bullied, and it's hard to believe that one of the biggest pop stars in the world was once thrown in a trash can for being different.
The "Born This Way" singer may not have been born with the crazy closet full of clothes that she owns these days, but evidently she was still born with a few eccentricities. According to Gaga, it's her slightly eccentric and over-the-top behavior that made her a target for bullies, who teased her and tormented her in many different ways -- she was pinched, had profanity written on her locker, and was called names. However, Lady Gaga recalls her lowest point as being thrown in a trash can by male bullies when she was just 14 years old as girls from her school looked on and laughed. Bullying might be a hard thing to overcome (as evidenced by Demi Lovato's revelations about her own troubles with bullies and subsequent stay in rehab), but hopefully now Lady Gaga can look back and laugh at her tormentors knowing that they'll never be the success she is.
And perhaps poking fun at the incident might be the best way to help Lady Gaga get over being thrown in a trash can by bullies -- she could always visit Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street to talk to him about being mean, and maybe she could design a trash can dress or an Oscar the Grouch-inspired outfit a la her infamous Kermit the Frog dress.
Whatever Lady Gaga does to try to feel better about her own difficult past, hopefully she uses her own encounters with bullies to inspire others being bullied to not fear being themselves or to give up on their dreams.
