If you thought that Versace was just for upper-class adults who have the disposable income to be able to afford the pricey garments and accessories, think again! Now, the offspring of said adults can be clothed in the designer couture as well, as CEO Gian Giacomo Ferraris intends to launch a kids line set to debut in the Spring 2012 season.
The line, entitled "Young Versace", was described by Ferraris as, "a high-end, glamorous and colorful collection in line with the brand's essence, with a touch of rock 'n' roll."
Sounds like exactly what one would expect the Versace name to put out for their clientele's mini-me's. Now it just remains to be seen whether or not parents will spring for the line. While adult clothing can be worn for years if taken care of appropriately, children's clothing is outgrown in months - weeks, if you're dressing an infant. Depending on the price tag attached to the couture children's clothing, it may prove to be Versace's first unsuccessful venture.
What do you think about the Young Versace line? If you had the resources, could you justify springing for the garments? Or do you think that designer children's and infant's clothing is a waste regardless?
