The sport where you can get the best adrenaline rush is probably through kite surfing. It combines the need for pumping up the speed of your board and being able to maneuver your kite expertly. It is quite challenging which may be why a lot of people are hooked to this kind of sport. And it didn't evolve only recently, the first record of it being utilized was way back in the 12th century.
The evolution of the sport, kite surfing, took place in the 13th century. Being first known as kite sailing, it was basically made for the purpose of transportation. And instead of boards, canoes and carts were being utilized to maneuver across places by using the wind. It was a good help in moving big and heavy objects back then.
In the 18th century, George Pocock, changed kite sailing by modifying the design and used kite surfing to allow people, as well, to get across open spaces. Because before, the main purpose of it is to move heavy things and man made vehicles to different places. The design is similar to the ones being used now because it also has four lines. With this, you'll have a better grip that will hold you in midair for an extended period.
The sport was surprisingly mainly used on land, snow and ice, before it was exploited in water. The 1980's kite surfing developers found out that it can be used on the water for extreme sporting. They adjusted the main blueprint to allow you to sail it again after your dive in the water.
But kite surfing would not hold its famed position now without the makings of Manu and Lord Hamilton. They popularized the sport on the tropical shores of Maui, Hawaii, when they first played it there. After that, the horizons of the extreme sport just kept expanding. And until now, there are various existing competitions and organizations that are dedicated only to this sport.
