Nicki Minaj's much-anticipated "Super Bass" music video is here. While its premiere didn't get the same attention as Lady Gaga's overhyped "Judas" video, it's much more visually appealing with its bubblegum pop feel.
As expected from Lil Wayne's protegé, there are splashes of pink, crazy cool wigs, and lots of shots of Minaj's very ample curves. The rapper looks like there's no place she'd rather be as she sits atop a motorcycle made of ice and gets her groove on with her backup dancers (whom you may remember from her tour). "Super Bass" is fun and insanely catchy. That "boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom" will play in your ears long after the video has ended.
But what will Lil Kim have to say after she sees Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" video? Plenty, for sure, as it's clear that Minaj is inspired by the other black Barbie. Surely, many Lil Kim fans will draw comparisons to music videos like "Crush on You" and "How Many Licks." They did both come out over 10 years ago, though. So is it OK that Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" is borrowing (or stealing, according to some) the Queen Bee's swagga?
