I totally see your point. Sometimes, I get asked by African-Americans if I feel guilty because my ancestors may have been slave owner. Slavery in America ended in the late 1800's, no, I don't feel guilty about slavery, there's honestly not much I could have done about it. Similarly, how could any German feel guilty about the Nazi's. There's really not much they can do about it.

People are strongly attracted to the idea of good v. evil and as soon as it's politically correct, I'm almost positive we'll be getting terrorists of today on TV shows as well.

The worst thing is when someone on the internet thinks he may insult me with very nice names just because I am German. Geez... will people ever learn?

I am very into reading and researching the Nazi movement, and the Holocaust. Even though it was the Germans or Hitler and the S.S. that were behind it with propaganda, I think that what happened during this time needs to be revisited often to remind of us where this world has been and to remind us not to ever let this happen again, or to go on as long as this was allowed to.

The German people of today should not feel guilty unless of course they still back the ideals of Hitler and those like him.

As for Nazi Werewolves I laughed, it is Hollywood and they are there to entertain, at least it is not like the media clouding people's judgement and steadily feeding us lies to convert us to a certain way of thinking

I agree that we should be educated about history, but there is a time for education, and there is a time when it's use turns into overkill.

A few of my relatives have made Nazi jokes over the years, and it made me want to bite through a parking meter!! My relatives who lived there never joked, and I really don't understand how people who weren't there, didn't live through it, and weren't even born can joke about it.

I didn't mean to offend, and I wasn't joking either. what he and his men did was wrong but like I said the German people of today and those who put there lives on the line for the jews, or anyone else being marketed for being killed back then should not feel a bit of guilt or let what others have to say bother them.

Just like white people in America shouldn't feel bad for what the people did to slaves back in the day, we just all need to remember not to let it happen again.

We recently had the opportunity to listen to a survivor from a Nazi Concentration camp speak. He was actually born in the concentration camp and through a series of amazing circumstances lived to tell the tale. However, I never think of it as what the "Germans" did. I think of it as how some horribly sick and twisted minds managed to brainwash others into believing the lies. It certainly wasn't because they were German. It could have been anyone from any where.

I think it's important to remember the lessons from history. But, it's also important to not use them as an excuse to be prejudiced just because someone is from a certain country, religion, nationality, skin color, etc. Each person is an individual and should be thought of as such.

I agree Renita Hitler did a good job of making people think Jews were the problem with society, and his propaganda brain washed not only Germans but even people in America. Funny America didn't jump in until they saw them selves looking good by stopping him, while they had started implementing some of the same things here.

I really do hope you are thinking the same about Muslims. I hate it how they are all generalized at the moment for crimes most of them would never do.

I don't think this is objectionable because of guilt, I think enough is enough, already!!! For crying out loud, the war ended in '45 (my paternal Grandpa was in the Canadian army, and my maternal grandfather was a member of the Danish resistance, and helped a lot of people), and I think the world needs to get over it!!! I still can't play regular German music without certain people making fun of me for playing it, and telling me I listen to Nazi music. Fortunately, I have a friend who is old enough to remember most of it (born 1932), and he isn't afraid to set people straight. The old German Schlager music I like certainly had NOTHING to do with Nazis.

The last time I was in the company of this person, and he looked like he was on the verge of making a comment, I prepared a special mix-list on my iPod. German, Russian, Danish, American Jazz and Big Band (my friend told me Hitler hated American music!!!), some of my favourite Jewish Klesmer music, and some Arabic music for good measure. I think I rendered the person absolutely speechless, and I've never heard this person comment about my music since!! :)

It was my maternal grandfather (Morfar) who told me there are two types of people in this workd; political/religious extremests, and EVERYBODY ELSE!!

I don't know a single German of our generation, or even my parents generation, who feels guilty about the Nazis. They weren't involved, they have no need to feel guilty. As for my friend from 1932, he told me all about The Hitler Youth "Just like the Boy Scouts! We did all kinds of fun stuff. Camping, fishing, marching, but the war ended before I would be made to do any damage."

So I don't think guilt should be an issue, but I do think that America and the rest of the world needs to stop beating a dead horse. Good point about Islamic extremists. Well said.

You are very welcome, and I'm glad my comment helped. I think people who still joke about this are the lowest of the low. There were innocent people who were forced to join the Nazi party, and that really sucked. I wonder how many of them suffered from PTSD after the war, because of what they were MADE to do? I can say the same about my husband who was sent to Viet Nam, and did a lot of stuff that he had no choice but to do, knowing full well he'd regret it later. I know what he did, I've heard every one of his war stories, but I don't think any less of him, because it was not his choice. My Morfar would have loved him to pieces, had they ever met.

It's from the past, right? They were in existence back in the days of Hitler and they are still alive? I have no idea because I have not seen that season. Are you watching season 3? I want to watch it, but season 3 has not come out on DVD yet over here.

Yes, I just downloaded season three and have watched maybe 2 episodes of it. They have advertised to air it on free tv later this month (season 3) and I BET that they will cencor some Nazi stuff. They did it before and I really bet they will do it again.

I've only seen a couple of episodes of "True Blood" and really couldn't get into it. As a screenwriter, I totally agree with the lack of creativity these days on television or movies. The only vampire related shows I ever got into were "Buffy" and the Canadian "Blood Ties." These were both well written and produced.

I consider anything else after Buffy to not be inspirational. Anne Rice did a great job, and Joss Whedon (Buffy) made the topic fun. But anything else is just "Buffy for adults" or "Buffy for teens" like Twilight. And with so many similar shows, it gets boring.

I mainly only watch True Blood as I need to do something while mylotting and gathering *lol*

I've moved on. Just about all Jamaica has moved on. We are not interested in "Black History Month".

Interestingly, Jamaicans really never developed any hatred of Germans. We treat them almost as if they're Jamaicans.

It seems every 'new' vampire story has werewolves enter the story line somewhere, which I thought to be corny to start with.

Power corrupts. Absolute power power corrupts absolutely. It's rare to see someone 'put in charge' not sooner-or-later abuse the people under him or her, unless a 'check' is in place.

That's human nature.

And I thought that Nazi zombies were already a strange idea...

It's popular in American politics when attacking someone in power to say "He's just like Hitler." Of course, this demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of Hitler, the Nazis and history.

I thought it a bit lame for a story line as well. I love True Blood but sometimes it is a bit much.

And after watching the complete 3rd season I really wonder why they even mentioned it. I mean, it was NOT necessary for the story to mention the Nazi era. It was one of MANY examples the werewolfes were involved, right? They could have picked any other incident... grrr... but no, they had to pick the Nazis :-(
