I had posted last week that we got a surprise concert from Elton John and I got tickets for me and my oldest daughter, her mother in law and her sister. I had trouble getting the tickets in the block, I went on line at home to do so rather than stand in line. I resorted to trying for 1 ticket at a time and got 4 tickets. I was in MF-C row 14 and my daughter got MF-R row 14 and was only 8 seats from me on the other side of the isle. The other seats were row 17 R anf row 29 Left.
The good news is they were still great seats, we had a great view of the stage. Elton cam out shortly after 8pm and stayed there untill just before 11. 3 solid hrs nearly of pure energy.
He led with Funneral for a Friend and ended with Your Song. In between there were the faves of Candle in the wind, Crocadile Rock, Yellow Brick road and other of his Golden hits of the 70's. He did 3 songs from his latest album and I think I may be getting it.
He had a show scheduled in wis. and the storms in the north a few weeks ago damaged the venue. Elton said if you can find me a place near-by in the midwest I'll go there. The story I heard is the guy who use to be program director in Sioux city now worked the venue in Wis. and he called here and gave the new guy the heads up. Thats how we got Elton.
Elton has promised to go back to the other venue as soon as he can reschedule. He also fit in a concert in Deluth, Minn at last min. I say what a great guy. People who wouldn't normally get a chance to see him finally did.
I know I had a great time. There were people there from their 70's to their teens. The floor was hopping during the songs and near the end when he was doing his best hits, you could hear everybody singing along. I know I was.
It was a fantastic show and I am glad I didn't miss it.
Oh, BTW, I got a t-shirt, a picture program, and a key chain.
