PlayStation Network Down but Sony 'Not Rushing' PSN Service Back Online!

The Sony PlayStation Network remains down, but the company said it is taking its time to bring its PSN back online. This runs counter to the belief of PS3 players and sites that the network is nearly back up.

The network outage is rapidly becoming a nightmare that morphs itself by the minute.

As sites report information, often duplicates of earlier reports, one things is certain -- the Sony PlayStation Network is not back online yet.

There is no mistake that the network hacking of the San Diego database lessened the trust in 77 million PSN subscribers of the PS3 gaming system.

DualShockAfter all, 24.6 million credit cards may have fallen into the hands of hackers, according to Nick Caplin, Head of Communications at Sony.

Whether it's 1 or 100 million credit cards exposed and for sale, the debacle is wearing on PSN gamers' patience with the PlayStation Network down.

While the investigations continue with the FBI and global governments, it is important that subscribers and casual players stay patient, as a formal process exists.

With the Sony PlayStation Network down, the company is predicting a return of service this week, but that is merely a projection or wishful thinking.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the electronics company is taking its time and does not want to rush the system back online. In doing so, it risks the same mistakes in network security.

"It will be as soon as we are 100% confident that we can resume a safe and secure service," the company said in a statement.

Same news different day. Its simple, If your sketched out about your cc info change it. If you are blowing up blogs to find out when psn will be back up, give it a rest they said within a week. If it isnt up till the date given, check the site. Until then how about going out and ________________(fill in the blank with a productive response).

They should really hurry up and stop toying with us. The longer they wait, the more customers they lose. If they care so much about people's privacy, how about they just wipe out all the credit card numbers in psn. Like seriously, If its THEIR credit card, they should STILL know the number to it. This right here isnt cutting it, not 1 bit. I didnt buy a ps3 just so it could take up space, i bought it so i could waste time PLAYING games. From the way I see it, sony, you should WIPE out all the credit card/debit card numbers, RESTORE the service, keep homeland security right beside you and WAIT for the hacker to try and attack again. Have the system WIRED so if the hacker attacks again homeland can auto track the ip. Hackers dont know when to quit. If they strike once, they'll strike again. So restore the service, and have homeland security to have like an auto alert when he/she strikes. That way you'll know exactly where it's coming from and people like me wont have to suffer.

good bye sony!!!!!!!!!!! i traded in my ps3 today and got a xbox at gamestop great deal too!!!!!!! i will be playing c.o.d.,mortal kombat and portal within in 10 min !!! now just trying to figure out what game i want to play first!!!

amen to that Tom!!! I'm giving them until tomorrow before I do the same thing. No one can give you a straight answer, Sony will barely talk about anything, and it's not very fair. If my info got hacked and my credit card gets used, they can count on a lawsuit from me. 77 Million registered users, not to mention those who aren't online, and they can't even issue a real statement? Just projected and hopeful dates? If it took them two weeks to figure out that 24 million people got hacked, what does that tell you about them rebuilding a network? My faith in Sony is gone. Multiply Playstation's lowest cost $300 per unit with the number of users just online and what do you have? All that money and they are still running around with their heads cut off. A joke... a total joke. Well, maybe when everyone is gone they will realize that they gotta spend money sometimes to keep it coming in. A 21 year old unlocked the system... what does that tell you?

First off, if you stupid ignorant people haven't heard yet, it's not Sonys fault, it's the stupid fucking hackers. Blame them not Sony, it's not like Sony was like " hey want some cc info?" stupid fucks. The FBI is involved, so you have nothing to worry about, but if your so worry they're gonna steal your 12$ you have on your pathetic walmart money card, maybe you should cancel it, it takes a maximum of 15 minutes. You fell for the geico commercial, 15 minutes can save you 15% or more. How about 15 minutes will save your 15$? Second, if you cant live without online gaming, get a fucking life, which includes real friends, a girlfriend or boyfriend, a job, a pet or even moving out of your parents basement. And finally, to all the people going to 360, enjoy it. Have fun paying for your service, and playing with a crap system. If you base the entire system on the online gaming fact your an idiot. I can still browse the Internet, download movies, and numerous other things on my ps3. Online gaming is for turds that can't beat the real game on the hardest level. I've had time to replay the campaigns on my games i.e. Cod and beat them on veteran. We don't need you, run to the 360, have fun with it, cuz you know that networks next. It's got even more cc info on it than psn does cuz of all the idiots that pay for online gaming. Haha bitches. Argue with me, I dare ya bitch. 

Listen, if you wanna keep sucking Sony's dick, that's completely up to you. Of course the hacker is responsible, but if it was that easy, don't you think they should have been more on top of things? As far as XBOX goes, yeah, they suck too... but they still seem to make it without a blu-ray player and compete with the graphics using less of a system. In some cases, there games look better! How is that possible? As far as I go, yeah I'm just a little person. Someone who gets screwed by the government and big companies daily. Microsoft isn't any better. My uneducated ass makes money debugging peoples computers and fixing software of theirs that never works until 2 years after it becomes obsolete. I have a life, three jobs, no girl(but I keep a slut around) and I work out at a 24 hour gym when I have time. I don't want a girl, wife, or kids. I've had flawless credit since I was 18 and don't live with mom and dad. Yeah, I've beat Duty on veteran too. Brag about it and tell me I need a life. Douche. But hey, since you've got Sony's back, maybe they will give you some free stuff with their welcome back program. I'll bet it's gonna be awesome. Totally worth giving up 24 million peoples info for some Playstation Plus!

first of all all the haters of ps3 threatning your going to switch to xbox go right ahead but STFU because negativ feedback is the last thing sony needs and it wont make it come up any faster, switching to a Xbox wont effect sony they still got 77 million loyal customers so nobody cares if your switching systems just STFU because nobody cares!

Thank you Brandon. Microsoft has computers and 360. Sony has tvs, entertainment systems, ps3, appliances along with numerous games in their names across multiple platforms. Sony don't really give a shit. Plus 360 has been hacked numerous times in the past, it's a matter of time before they do again and THEN shit will hit the fan cuz everyone I know uses their cc to pay for live. 360 players will then move to ps3 when they're down for a few months.

you know, the only thing you have had to say is that we spend too much time playing games online. But we aren't doing that now are we? Apparently, you work for Sony, or you can't get enough of smoking their pole. Are you rich or well off? I'm not. I'm just your average middle class working guy who busts his ass everyday and hopes for the best. I payed for a system that was supposed to be the best and instead received something else. When will it be back up? When will it be better than ever? As each day goes by, I have more and more doubts. Though once it comes back up, if ever, I'm sure people will just go back into their games. It's a shame, but there are alot of people that can't afford to abandon it and give other systems a chance. Maybe it's time for straight computer gaming. The graphics are as good as what you can afford and you don't have to rely on one company to do the right thing.

It's called patience, which a lot of you obviously don't have, your the kind of people that when you order something and it says ships in 4-6 weeks, by the end of the 3rd day your getting itchy.
