Tests are over

Hubby was scheduled for a colonoscopy. He has been resisting for 15 years. I was a bit concerned because his dad died of colon cancer. He is all clear, no polyps. Come back in five years.  Skipping meals and drinking prep were really not any fun. He was starving, but feels fine. I understand this is a test that can save your life.

 

And "no" I did not get any pictures. LOL

He was watching Rachel Ray cooking Mexican food, while we waited for his time. He wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant afterward, so we did.

Yes, a very important and painless test. The day before is the pits but well worth it. I've had a done twice. Had polyps the first time and even getting them removed was absolutely painless, they did that at the same time. Congrats to your smart hubby.

Many insurances will not pay. What I had read in the Medicare hand book is they will pay for the first one. He is just now old enough for Medicare.

Yes, Bob's dad died at 59 with colon cancer.

This particular doctor uses a new type of prep that is much easier to handle.

That is what we hear. Bob had Miralax stirred into Gatorade, only a half gallon. No red gatorade or purple allowed.

His dad died of it, but they said after the autopsy that he would have had a heart attack soon. Smoking was a contributor to both. Bob said that although his dad was a smoker, he encouraged him not to.

Alot of men resist getting a colonoscopy, unfortunately. So your husband finally deciding to get one done is a good thing. Glad it was negative - and I'll bet, even if he's not admitting it, it's a real load off his mind, as well.

We all resist tests that could save our life. He felt pretty confident of his own health, I was the one who worried.

That is what they generally do if there are polyps. My sister says mom had some, I question that, this sister lies. My brother had two polyps and one was precancerous. My older sister had none.
