Hubby and I were watching CSI Miami when the words scrolled across the screen that the President was going to interrupt programming for an announcement. Really? I didn't mind that he interrupted daytime programming last week. I usually pay no attention to daytime TV, but keep it on for the noise. Yeah. I didn't mind, until he was jeering about having released his birth certificate. And, those of us with eyes to see and ears to listen have figured out that birth certificate was a fake.
Â
What could be so important that a really good episode of CSI Miami had to be interrupted.
Â
With about 20 minutes left in the program, the news folks started telling us what the announcement was going to be: Osama bin Laden had been killed. They said that the President had said he would speak starting at 10:30, but here it was 10:38 and he wasn't quite ready. So the news folks had to talk....and talk. (They could have left the regular program on.)
Â
At 11 p.m. the regular news didn't start and the President still had not come on to make the announcement. News folks had to keep talking, of course.
Â
Hubby went to bed. He already knows that he'll be working 10-12 hour days most days this week, and he needed his rest. And he probably figured I could fill him in.
Â
As I sat waiting with the dog in my lap, I fell asleep. And when I woke up close to 1 a.m., the first two things I heard were:
Â
It took all of 20 minutes to complete the mission. Really? We've been trying to get this guy for 10 years and it took 20 minutes?
Â
And people were dancing in the streets in Washington DC and in Times Square. Really? That confuses me.
Â
The people I saw were waving American flags. The news folks said they were singing patriot songs. Hmmm. TEA party patriots do that, but none of my conservative friends would dance in the streets in the middle of the night because someone - even as bad as Osama bin Laden - was killed. Would they? And people on the left spit on the American flag, and most would never sing God Bless America. They've said that.
Â
So who were the people dancing in the streets? Didn't they remember that having one man burn a Quran was enough to make Muslims in the middle east angry. What would seeing Americans dancing in the streets because a Muslim leader had been killed do?
Â
Then I remembered something I read yesterday:
Obama’s online army quietly gears upPresident Obama’s aides have quietly turned the key in the engine of the massive campaign-in-waiting that’s been operating under the name Organizing for America for the last two years, and will begin his re-election with the sort of online and field organizations most presidential campaigns would be glad to have 16 months from now.
The leadership of the field organization – with hundreds of employees, tens of thousands of volunteers and massive online assets (primarily, a giant email list) – is shifting from the Democratic National Committee to the new campaign in Chicago. And in mass emails and in a quiet series of one-on-one meetings with volunteer leaders, the group is resetting its relationship with its supporters.
“Nothing like this has ever happened this early or this big,†said Natalie Foster, a former DNC new media director.
Obama’s re-election campaign may lack the novelty, and the purity, of his first campaign. Aides hope, though, that any enthusiasm gap – which they believe will close as the race begins to take shape – will be made up for by the sheer scale and capacity of the newly re-tuned organization.
Â
Maybe that's who was dancing in the streets - the old ACORN/SEIU folks who ended up being in the Organizing for America campaign.
Â
Since I fell asleep before the President's announcement, I had to search online for some idea of what happened.
Â
He was killed in a mansion? Really? And all these years we thought he was hiding in a cave?

Then Obama is going to be made to look like some sort of Superhero of the century! Meanwhile, it was and is our soldiers who deserve the credit.
Obama as far as i'm concerned deserves NOTHING what so ever.
This ploy by our own Government is going to play on so many suckers who won't possibly be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together, and what is the elites best strategy to hide something, put right in front of your face and nobody will ever see it ( Osama ). Even the military said that Osama was hiding right in plain view.
If you haven't be sure to read this one: Osama Bin Laden dead : Seeds planted, Crop harvested
Every time the US waves the bloody shirt of Osama, it has a purpose. Obama has been drastically weakened in recent months, and the US has been hurt by murdering Gadaffi’s family members. The mass-killing in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, etc. is not going well. The economy is a wreck. Dollar debasement is speeding up. Gasoline prices are high. So…tah-dah…the body of Osama bin Laden for our edification and distration. It may even be true. Certainly the CIA will assure us that its DNA test proves it.
UPDATE from Darien Sumner:
In re: Osama bin Laden’s death, here are the first three things that went through my mind:
1) Congratulations to the United States government on spending only ten years and a few trillion dollars to kill one old man.
2) This means we get all of our liberties back now, right? And our money? And the thousands of lives lost?
3) Ah, now the Libyan war is beginning to make a lot more sense from a political standpoint. The government needed a new bogeyman to chase.
