Like two gibbons reaching for the moon
I’m hanging by a thread so high above
Our Mother Earth which I’ll be leaving soon
Reaching as for magical balloon
My aspirations far beyond a shove
So like two gibbons reaching for the moon
So little time; a boost would be a boon
Before I bid my adieau to those I love
And Mother Earth which I’ll be leaving soon
I’ll not let go, though Earth’s companion moon
Remains beyond the reach of hand and glove
Like two gibbons reaching for the moon
Instead I’ll cling here, singing lofty tune
Until the day when like a snow-white dove
From Mother Earth which I’ll be leaving soon
I spread my wings and climb above the dune
Of long neglected sands and gaze above
So like two gibbons reaching for the moon
From Mother Earth which I’ll be leaving soon.

I like how you went figuratively with this line:
Like two gibbons reaching for the moon
It paints a great image.
Using the title of the painting piques my interest.
Rave, Rave at the writing of this poet! You’ve taken on Mindful Poetry’s challenge. By your own merit, you are featured.
There is a lovely charm in the line -
"Instead I’ll cling here, singing lofty tune"
Blessings and best wishes in a plenty - S.
