Robert Pattinson's new movie "Water for Elephants" lost out to last week's repeat "Rio" at the box office over Easter weekend. It seems a little hard to believe that the movie wasn't able to beat out last week's star.
Families flocked to "Rio" buying $26.8 million in tickets in North America over Easter weekend, which makes sense because the holiday brings so many families together. The movie's 10-day haul is up to $81.3 million.
The Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon romance didn't even debut at #2 during its opening weekend. That spot went to Tyler Perry's "Madea's Big Happy Family," which is no doubt hilarious like the other Madea adventures. This movie raked in $25.8 million over Easter weekend.
Finally #3 went to "Water for Elephants," which brought in $17.5 million over the holiday weekend. Despite the fact that it starred Twilight's Robert Pattinson, who is an incredibly hot actor, this amount was actually in line with expectations.
Rounding out this weekend's top five were "Hop" in fourth and "Scream 4." Were you able to take in a movie this weekend? Was it one starring Robert Pattinson, or another one?
