William Shakespeare to Be the New Face of Chinese Man

William Shakespeare is the new face of "hot."

Zhang Yiyi of China plans to pay 1 million yuan ($153,000) for the privilege of undergoing 10 surgeries to his face so he can look like the famous British playwright. If all goes well, it should take about 10 months to a year until the best-selling author looks like Shakespeare.

He said he wants to do it so people can mourn one of the greatest writers in the world. The logic here is that once people see William Shakespeare's face, they will be so moved that they will fall to their knees. Or perhaps the man plans to prostate himself so people can come and enjoy a viewing of the dead playwright.

Zhang said, "Life is a process of striving to become a better person. I think the surgeries are worth the money." He will be using the income from the sale of his last book that he accumulated over the course of four years to look like William Shakespeare.

Zhang seems to enjoy media attention. In 2006 he wrote a letter proposing to a Chinese TV show host in which he lists six reasons for her to marry him, which he published for media attention. She turned him down that time, but perhaps she might change her mind after the surgery. After all, a husband who looks like a 447 year old author is hot.
