Lady Gaga is no stranger to making strong statements, whether drumming up buzz for her creative fashion choices (hello egg incubator!) or causing controversy about her songs ("Judas," most recently). And, the "Born This Way" singer has just made another type of statement - one that's far less confident, but no less powerful.
In anticipation of HBO's upcoming May 7 broadcast of "Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden," the network has just released a teaser clip. But, it's not what Little Monster fans might be expecting.
Rather, it's raw black-and-white footage, documentary-style, that shows perhaps a much more real side of Gaga, where she admits some pretty deep insecurities. "I still sometimes feel like a loser kid in high school," Gaga admits tearfully. "I have to tell myself I'm a superstar... so I can get through the day. Sometimes I still feel like people are trying to destroy me..."
Those are some pretty intense confessions from Lagy Gaga, who's arguably one of the biggest national and international stars right now. The clip shows that even the most popular pop idols are not immune to doubt.
Adding to the intense artistic flair of the video, Lady Gaga is filmed in front of her dressing room mirror taking off her makeup, which shows the singer physically exposed, in addition to her emotional revelations. It's a rare, but welcome, glimpse at Gaga's face without the layers of exaggerated stage makeup.
Drama and theatrics go hand-in-hand when it comes to Gaga. Staged or not staged, new sides of this superstar are constantly being shown. Check out the latest side here.  Â
