It’s a Question of Sole
Brand spanking new
those boots, you knew
made to outdo
not black, but brown
best around - our
own town cobbler
fine as you’ll meet -
such a treat for
tired feet like mine
dry in all weather
best ever all -
leather boots made
worn all the while
many miles now
worthwhile? “I'll say!!”
but now, they're worn -
tattered - torn - and
I mourn this day
the toes sad scuffed
worn enough to
look tough - too rough
to keep feet dry
so hard I've tried
"Goodbye" I'll say
they're much too tired
uninspired - to
acquire a stay
So sad but true
"We are through now ~
I rue this day!!"
I say "Adieu" ~
replaced you with
two boots, brand new!!”

They have strayed, at
times payed the price.
drunken with style
all the while, I'd
walk miles aimless.
