Hi,
Well I guess I be going.....
Just kidding, I haven't been here in a while, especially since baseball season has started and I've been shooting some weekend tournaments. Ok well not all weekends.
Saturday I was supposed to shoot, and got through one and a half games before the rain started. Yeah I was caught in that storm system. (I got some photos of the storm damage in Havre de Grace on Sunday. But when I stopped at home I found out the the people I shoot for had been trying to reach me to see if I could shoot Sunday night, sure no problem, change my clothes and went back to Ripken Stadium for the final game.
Today I had to get my taxes done, yeah I'm a procrastinator when it came to that, but we get a refund from the federal, and owe the state, I'm not happy with that, because it seems every year we are paying more and more in taxes and getting less and less back, so needless to say some of our federal is going to get pinched for what we didn't pay off from last year and our whole federal plus several hundred will be going to the state of MD.
I actually sold a photo, I'm happy about that, looking for more frames that aren't expensive (8.5 x 11) so i can keep the cost of the prints down and maybe sell more.....
Then today I went out and shot a couple hand guns, my desire is to be able to have a conceal permit for when I am shooting. This way I have some protection against animals or attack by humans. Its easier to get cleared to have a gun in the house than it is to get a conceal permit. We are hoping that with my carrying around several thousand in equipment every time I go out shooting will be a reason enough........I just don't think its right that I have to be attacked 3x before I can get a conceal weapon permit...but shooting was actually a thrill, I was nervous, but it was a thrill. We had a friend who is a police officer take us to the shooting range where we tried a couple of guns out, you can rent them and try them before you buy them.
So as you can see, I do believe we have the right to bare arms.
A couple weeks ago I went to DC, for an early am photo walk during the cherry festival. Blooms were at peak and it was a lot of fun, but very very tiring. As I had to be up at 3am, to be down there by 6:30 am. Needless to say that was not a night I slept well, but if you are familiar enough with your camera, you really don't need to go on a photo walk tour, maybe some pointers, but being my first time in DC in many years, I didn't know where to go for the blossoms.
So that's 3-4 weeks in a nutshell.
I will be here probably on and off this week, hopefully I can get some shots posted of things that I have taken over the past few weeks (minus that baseball shots), I am getting better, it just takes practice, and with my larger lens I, myself am starting to see an improvement. I just have a different take than other photographers. I don't see the need to get a kid scratching himself, to me that looks tacky, but I've seen some photographers there do it, I try not to, sometimes it happens, but I try to delete the photos.
So here's praying for good weather, I'm going to be shooting tomorrow some of the spring break baseball camp, and then there is a huge Easter Weekend tournament starting on Friday. Which I know for sure I am shooting Friday, and I expect to be shooting at least on Sunday as well, as many people (from what I'm hearing) are saying they are not available.......But the money I make goes into the business, and already we are ahead of where I was in earnings last year. Due to some things I sold on ebay, as well as the sports shooting, (even though I've spent a good chunk of it on a new --used lens) I've already made more than I did last year alone. What the state wants to see is that we are making progress in earning money. And not just spending money and declaring deductions for a hobby. Our accountant is happy that we are showing progress. We are less in the red than we were last year, so its a step, and this year he hopes to see more progress, as we do.
I'm sure there is a lot more I'm forgetting, I just can't remember it all right now....
Pictures to come as I have some time.....
I told my husband I had to take the work if it was offered to me this year, we need the money. And hopefully we can start making enough that we pay me something for my shooting, even if its just paying for expenses during the days that I don't do a lot of shooting.
The rain Saturday turned out to be a good thing, as I was able to shoot my daughter's play rehearsal that they did at church on Sunday.
So in short busy busy busy, hectic schedule.
Will post pictures as I get a chance
Got a few other things on my mind.
Trying to stop in when I can......
