I got a call to go pick up two guys in a fancy hotel in Phoenix in my cab.
When they got in the cab…I recognized from the accent they were from Scotland.
We talked about William Wallace…while I drove them to their destination. They both proudly proclaimed to be Socialists. I said that was wonderful…and that we all had to be something.
I explained that I belonged to the Tea Party…and had always leaned more towards the Republicans than the Democrats. And I took the time to educate them on American History…how the Civil War was fought between the Republican North and the Democratic South.
How the Democrats were so upset about losing the Civil War…they started the Ku Klux Klan. They were soaking it in. It was a much different view than they had heard in college.
We got to their destination. The meter said $28.00 … and I said the fare would be $48.00 for them.
They protested and complained. I had to explain…the $28.00 was the fare for freedom loving Capitalists. The fare for Socialist was $48.00.
They started laughing…and gave me $30.00…which was a two dollar tip. Guess they did not want to “share the wealth” after all.
Guess they were not really Socialists…or else they made a transformation really quick to Capitalism.
Socialism always sounds good…because you’re spending someone else’s money. That is why it always fails…you eventually run out of other peoples money to spend.

I much prefer a free market where neither government nor business dominates.
The practice is not of Obama, it's of the big money interests which control our government. Replacing Obama (or Congress) will not change anything.
But money is the means and the motive.
You are quite right. That's why we need to have a different kind of money which cannot be used in such ways.
The full description is presented in my novel, "Invisible Hand" freely available here on Gather (see my profile and the comments of others who have read it) and at http://www.nopom.info where there are no ads and an MP3 version of the complete novel.
The money proposed is not a physical object and does not represent physical objects so it does not have any of the properties of physical objects as our current money does. Therefore it can be a free market money, a money which produces and retains a set of completely free markets proof against government, businesses, and every other threat to free markets. It sounds impossible, I agree, but that's because the only kind of money we think about is physical object money. The habits of mind make it extremely difficult to even imagine the possibility of any other kind. Perhaps your mind is more agile and less trapped in ruts than most and you can understand the idea without reading the whole novel?
I call cronyists subsidy-seekers.
It is beyond the abilities of voters since the Powers That Be are using computer keyboards to keep their rackets going. Voters no longer have entry points that I can detect. Everyday people will have to go around the corruption to figure out how to lessen its harm.
Had you dared to ask me for more than what was on the meter?
You'd have had an earful.... socialist or not!
