Blackberry, Microsoft, Google, and Hewlett-Packard recently developed tablets to compete with Apple. Â As of April 11, 2011, however, research indicated the Apple iPad device would continue to reign supreme in the tablet industry through 2015.
According to AFP on Google News, the Gartner research company conducted a study about which tablet device would outlast its competition. The final trend-based result predicted the Apple iPad would decline but remain the biggest seller in 2015, comprising 47 percent of the tablet industry. Gartner also indicated Google's Android tablet sales would grow steadily in sales until it reached approximately 38.6 percent of the market.
Of note is the overall rise in tablet sales predicted over the next four years. In April, 2010, companies sold 17.6 million tablets. However, Gartner's research predicted over 294 million tablets would be sold in 2015.
This study not only emphesizes the importance of tablet technology, but consumers will be able to plan for the future. Investors, school administrators, or business managers who wondered about the longevity of tablet technology will use this study to determine which devices to incorporate into their budgets and long-term technology plans. According to Gartner, tablets will continue to grow in popularity with the iPad emerging as king.
