Regis Philbin may be leaving Live! but he may not be signing off of television altogether. The talk show legend announced that he would be leaving his long-running day time talk show earlier this year, but contrary to popular belief, he has no intentions of retiring. In fact, it looks like he may be getting his own television show!
According to sources, Philbin, "has begun shopping his own daytime syndicated talk show, starring himself. [He] has been in preliminary talks with syndicators, including Harpo and Sony, about hosting a talk show similar to 'Live' but with more news coverage."
No matter what avenue Regis takes he is going to be successful. He has done his time to make his mark on television, and he pretty much has free range at this point. It would be really great if he was blessed to do something that he is really passionate about. He is almost 80 years old so it would be nice for him to do what he really loves.
Fans of Philbin can totally see him doing a sports-based show. Perhaps he could cover his beloved New York Yankees, or even Notre Dame football. He'd be a great sports broadcaster, don't you think?
