Wha...what's that contraband on your jacket,
I asked, the first time I met him,
pointing at the green letter G,
on his shoulder.
Oh, well, you know I'm from Wisconsin,
he announced as if it was something
to be proud of. I see, I consoled, I'm sorry.
He shook his head, grinned,
glanced at his wife and zinged me:
At least my team knows what it's like to win a Super Bowl.

I love this on many levels, Susan. Sure, it made me chuckle since I was there, but mostly I like how you took real life and turned it into verse--showing us that anything can inspire poetry.
