In a mass email to supporters, President Barack Obama launched his second campaign for the White House, 20 months before the November 2012 elections.
Obama is the first candidate to formally enter the race. No serious Democratic challenges are foreseeable at this time. The Republican field is disorganized, but has nearly a year to select a candidate to face the 44th President.
Obama's campaign has released a new video on his website with the slogan "It begins with Us".
The President has filed papers with the Federal Elections Commission and will do media interviews tonight. In his email, he said it would be his "final campaign, at least as a candidate".
