I do this as well, I have paper everywhere. Reading what I've written in the middle of the night is somewhat of a challenge for me as well.

Mine are usually when I'm trying to fall asleep. I keep a pen and paper in the nightstand and have to write them down, otherwise I can't get to sleep.

There are "memo dictating rcorders." either heartlandAmerica or Tiger direct would have them. They are small hand held things.

i have an app on my phone that i can press one button and record anything and it registers it on a to do list, where you can make things repeating or whatever, even set phone reminders with a few buttons. its helpful!

got to love the apps that there is out there for phones these days, lol. I try to have paper near my bed or in my purse, what ever so when an ideas hit I can write it down.
