Dennis Rodman, one of the most colorful basketball players in NBA history will be honored tonight when his former team, the Detroit Pistons, take on another of Rodman's former teams, the Chicago Bulls.
Rodman had great success with the Pistons and Bulls, winning multiple championships with both.
Tonight at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the Detroit Pistons will be retiring Rodman's #10 jersey in a ceremony at halftime.
“I thought it was an April Fool's joke when they called me about it the first time,” Rodman said. “I was shocked. I don’t think I should have my jersey retired because I was probably the fifth most important guy on those teams.”
Rodman has become a celebrity icon of sorts since leaving the NBA, appearing on multiple TV reality shows and making guest appearances on shows like "Las Vegas."
Dennis Rodman was no joke when he played. He was the league leader in rebounds seven years in a row from 1992-1998. Nobody out-rebounded Dennis in those days!
It's good to see Dennis Rodman get his due credit for playing the game as well as he did.
