Episode 5 of Bethenny Ever After is a whirlwind of choices Bethenny has to make. Not life-altering choices, but can she handle the outcome of the decisions she makes?
Bethenny’s turning 40 in two weeks, so the beginning of Bethenny Ever After Episode 5 starts out with a girls’ night out. Bethenny gets raunchy and all the ladies get sloshed as they have a fun-filled night out on the tow
n.
Bethenny receives the call about doing Skating with the Stars. Of course she wants to do it, but not because she wants to show off her ice skating talent. That wouldn’t be her style. No, she wants to do Skating with the Stars so she can wear the sequins, the glitter, and the false eyelashes. Bethenny, Jason, and Julie discuss the possibility of Bethenny taking on this latest adventure, adding to the million other things she has going on, and while no one knows when Bethenny will fit in time to sleep, the threesome decide she should do it. Bethenny has no doubt that she’ll win, even though she hasn’t been on ice skates since she was a kid.
Shawn offers to plan Bethenny’s 40th birthday party as a gift. Although Bethenny has reservations about having a party, she decides since everyone around her thinks it’s a great idea, she’ll have a party. With all the talk of the party, the party, the party during Episode 5, viewers may have mistakenly assumed the party be shown during this episode. It must have been a doozie of a party because fans won’t know until next week's episode of Bethenny Ever After exactly what happened at her 40th birthday bash.
The therapy session was very emotional as the therapist and Bethenny touch on why Bethenny doesn’t like celebrating her birthday. Her reasoning is understandable when she breaks down, explaining that her father never called her or sent her a card on her birthday, that his assistant would send a card, sign her own name on it, and include a $500 check. Bethenny also tearfully discusses her mother, whose birthday falls on the same day as Bethenny’s, and how sorry she now feels for her mother because her mom is crazy.
The bright spot of the therapy scene, and the entire episode really, is when Bethenny talks about how she will have birthday parties for Bryn in the future. Her face just lights up at the mere mention of her daughter and there’s no mistaking how much she truly loves her little girl and how Bethenny will ensure that Bryn’s upbringing will in no way compare to her own.
Bethenny Ever After airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. EST on Bravo.
