My Many Colored Days by: Dr. Seuss

I'm thinking for the entire month I'm going to be yellow as a busy bee. I went over to the school this morning to help the 4th grade class work on their own versions of My Many Colored Days.

The students came up with some great, unique metaphors and similes to describe their many colored days. I won't be going in tomorrow or Thursday, because they have testing. Friday the teacher is hoping to finish the colored days books in order to start on poetry next week.

I'll be going in again Friday afternoon for the Little One's birthday. Then this weekend it will just be the Little One and me since Dad and Rachael are off on encampment. Monday April 4th is the Little One's 10th bday and the school has early dismissal. On the 6th they have field day - no writing for that day.

The following weekend I have the poetry workshop on the 9th. Rachael and Dad have the Literacy Run on the 10th.

And on Friday April 15th anyone who would like can come join my sister and me here on gather for a poetry chat. Hope to see you all there so you can hear about my work with 4th graders on poetry. I can share what I learned at my poetry workshop, too.

I'm thinking about providing prompts with each poem spotlighted. What do you think? Like Haiku with your feature?

Yes, and some free verse. I still need to contact more poets to feature. I just finished your post, by the way, and followed all your links. :)

When I taught, I loved having the children do adaptations of books. Creative way to get the juices flowing.
