This recipe is based on a recipe for "Burek", a Yugoslavian dish usually baked in phyllo dough. I didn't have the phyllo dough on hand so I improvised the crust with baking mix.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 2 t Hungarian paprika
- 1 t allspice
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup baking mix
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- melted butter
Preheat oven to 400°.
Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion and brown meat. Drain. Stir in allspice, paprika, salt and pepper. Cook a few minutes more.
Add ground beef mixture to a 9" pie plate. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, stir together baking mix, milk and egg til just mixed. Pour over ground beef mixture.
Bake 30 minutes or til top is golden brown and topping is cooked. Brush with melted butter.
Slice and serve.

I always have a hard time using phyllo.
We had left overs, goulash.
