Sassy luvs truffles!  I am not familiar with the Madelaine Chocolate Company, but these 'duet' double-filled truffles looked really good.  Aren't all chocolate truffles yummy?

• Peanut Butter & Caramel
• Milk Truffle & White Truffle
• Peanut Butter & Raspberry
• Raspberry & White Truffle

Sassy has now learned that not all truffles are created equally or priced equally.  I recently wrote a review of Lindt Lindor truffles, which I loved.  Sassy did some comparing.  Madelaine truffle packaging is a copycat of Lindt.  That is where truffle happiness ends.

A 5 ounce package of 10 Madelaine Duets cost $3.48.  Compare that to a 8.5 ounce package of 21 Lindt truffles for $4.98.  35 cents apiece for Madelaine truffles versus 24 cents apiece for Lindt truffles.  So the Madelaines must be super yummy, right?

Lindt truffles have a wonderful "Mmmmm" factor when they melt in your mouth, so rich and creamy smooth and decadently delicious.  These Madelaine Duets are among the worst chocolates I have ever eaten.  It reminds me of those cheap Palmer chocolates.  In some of the caramel truffles, the caramel had dried up to a state of nearly-impossible-to-chew.  The freshness date on these had almost expired when I purchased them.  People are not buying these.  If I had noticed the truffle count/cost versus Lindt and the nearly-expired freshness date, I would have put these back on the shelf.

On a scale of one to ten, Sassy awards Madelaine Duet Truffles a one.  This is the worst food purchase I have made so far this year.  I am ashamed to admit that I spent $7 on these.  What an unbelievable rip off!
