Le Page, governor of Maine, is trying to destroy even the history of labor in his State. Many of his colleagues are trying to destroy labor unions and the middle class.

I suspect he worries about the separation between federal and state and wants to be very careful about how he approaches this as President and he found an acceptable opening and he took it.

Me too, but I do think opposition tactics and respect (or lack of) for the President would give FDR a run for his money today.

FDR had that also. There was even an attempt to plan a coup. One of FDR's famous speeches was where he said, referring to the wealthy who were trying to destroy him, "I welcome their hatred."

The one major difference I think there was was in the use of the filibuster. I don't think it has ever been as abused as it has been in the attempt to nullify President Obama.
