Jodie Foster says she's going to quit acting. The critically acclaimed star says she won't leave the field completely, but plans to try her hand at a new facet of the industry instead.
According to a report from PerezHilton.com, the actress-turned-director just finished directing Mel Gibson's The Beaver, and claims she enjoyed it so much that she wants to "give up acting for good."
"I've reached that point where I don't want to act very much anymore. I am much more interested in holding off on acting, after 45 years as an actor," Foster says.
The newest project on Jodie Foster's radar will be directing a science fiction film. No word has been released with regard to the title or time frame of the film, but Foster is said to be very excited about her new adventure.
Jodie Foster is a truly gifted actress. In addition, she is a brilliant woman who was educated at Yale, and speaks French fluently. It isn't the least bit surprising to learn that she wants to further her film career as a director. While it is a bit disappointing to hear she may not take any further acting roles, she will undoubtedly become a master of the craft of directing much the same as she mastered acting.
Jodie Foster fans shouldn't throw in the towel just yet, however. The actress is set to appear in the upcoming film Elysium, along with another spectacular actor--Matt Damon.
Congratulations to Jodie Foster for having the courage to try her hand at something new. She will undoubtedly make an incredibly gifted director.
