What is YOUR opinion of the Cloud?

watch this video and tell me, are these fools full of crap or is "The Cloud" really our future? I am not sure I am comfortable with my computing being stored in a warehouse somewhere. I mean there are personal things on my rig, plus my own work which I would prefer not to have all over. If hackers can hack a cell phone at will then they for sure will be finding ways to access huge warehouses full of personal data! I am not thrilled about the low level of security I have now, let alone what might be had if I can't have my hard drive right at hand.

Like any technology, it won't totally be the future. There will be people (like you and I) that aren't comfortable with sharing everything in the cloud. For personal and home use, I don't think it'll become that big. However when transferring files to other people, or for business use, or saving games, etc it'll be something that catches on.

Put it this way: I don't see personal hard drives ever going away.

it'd be like Drop Box for the internet...we'll just have to keep our personal stuff on a personal drive... not everyone has to be subjected to the indignity of seeing me in a Speedo...

I distrust any sales pitch that doesn't tell me - up front - what they're talking about. I listened up to Insull becoming the president of Chicago Edison, and still didn't know what they're pitching. Anyone who doesn't tell you what they're selling for that long is selling you a raincoat full of knock off watches in a back alley. Well, maybe not, at least that shyster tells what he's selling quicker.

I don't know what they're selling, but I'm not buying it. ;)

I so agree with that! I got a call from a "school" I applied to...the guy had me all worked up and ready to fly out and see the campus, until he said..."All we need now is a small fee of 2500 dollars." After I told him no, and not only no but WTF because he told me there would be no fees up front...that they would be paid by potential employers as a rule...should have red-flagged right there...then I told him to LOSE my information and hung up!
