Sassy clipped a $1 coupon from the Sunday paper inserts, tucked it into her kitty wallet and scampered off to the grocer.  Even if these Oscar Mayer Carving Board products were not on sale, surely a buck off would make them a deal.

Available in four varieties:

• Roast Beef
• Turkey Breast
• Chicken Breast
• Ham

A 7 ounce package is regularly priced at $3.48, after coupon Sassy paid $2.48.  I chose the roast beef.  Considering the price of fresh boneless beef roasts and how much beef roasts shrink when cooked, I considered that a reasonable price.  I would not pay that price for the turkey or chicken. 

There are 3.5 servings per package.  A 2 ounce serving of the "slow roasted roast beef cured" has 70 calories, 20 fat calories, 30mg cholesterol, 500mg sodium, 12g protein.  It "contains up to 14% of a flavoring solution, browned with caramel color".  According to the ingredient list, that solution is water, cultured corn syrup, salt, vinegar, dried garlic and three different types of sodium.

The roast beef was tender and very flavorful.  But it was a little too salty for my taste.  That 500mg sodium is 21% of the recommended daily limit of salt intake.  I enjoyed the beef in several wraps along with lettuce, chipotle mayo and a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan.

On a scale of one to ten, Sassy awards Oscar Mayer Carving Board Meats a 7.  I don't like it enough to make a habit of buying it, but if it goes on sale or I find another coupon, I would purchase more of the roast beef to make wraps with.
