Super Easy Teddy Bear
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn – about 3 oz, color of choice. (MC)
Small amount CC for noise and mouth
Crochet hook size F and G
12 mm animal eyes
Polyfill
Yarn needle
Finished size: 11 inches tall, not including ears.
Notes: Use crochet hook size F unless otherwise indicated.
Body and Head (Make 2 Sections)
Row1: Starting at bottom of body with MC yarn, ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (14 sc)
Row 3: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (16 sc)
Rows 5 – 11: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 12: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc to within last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (14 sc)
Row13: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 14: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc to within last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 15: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 16: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc to within last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (10 sc)
Row 17: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 18 (starts head): 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Rnd 19: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (14 sc)
Rnd 20: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Rows 21 – 22: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (16 – 18 sc)
Rows 23 – 25: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 26: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc to within last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (16 sc)
Rows 27 – 28: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
****Insert eyes over rows 26 – 27.****
Rows 29 – 31: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc to within last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. Fasten off. (14-12-10 sc)
Sew front and back sections together, stuff firmly before closing.
Legs (Make 4 Sections)
Row 1: With MC yarn, ch 5, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, 2 sc in last ch, ch 1, turn. (6 sc)
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)
Rows 3 – 11: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. At the end of row 11, do not ch 1, fasten off.
Sew 2 leg sections together to form 1 leg, stuff leg firmly before closing.
Sew legs to bottom of body.
Arms (Make 4 Sections)
Row 1: With MC yarn, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each remaing ch across, ch 1, turn. (4 sc)
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (86sc)
Rows 3 – 11: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. At the end of row 11, do not ch 1, fasten off.
Sew 2 arm sections together to form 1 leg, stuff leg firmly before closing.
Sew arms sections over rows 11 -16 of side of body.
Muzzle
Rnd 1: ch2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: Sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 5: (Sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn. (21 sc)
Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Sew muzzle to center of face under eyes, stuff before closing.
With desired color yarn, embroider nose and mouth onto muzzle.
Ears (Make 4 sections)
Row 1: With MC yarn, ch 4, 7 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, turn. (8 dc)
Row 2: Dc in first dc, 2 dc in each remaining dc across, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off. (16 dc)
Sew 2 ear sections together to form 1 ear. Sew ears to top of head.
Bow
Row 1: With red yarn and crochet hook size G, ch 3, 3 dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, turn. (3 dc)
Rows 2 – 11: DC in each dc across, ch 2, turn, at the end of row 11, do not ch 2, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Sew the foundation ch of row 1 and the top of row 11 together and flatten, then wrap a length of yarn tightly around center of bow to form bow shape, tack into place.
Sew bow to center of neck.
