Welcome to the latest ACC Tournament 2011 scores and results. Today's action includes four games for the first round. This post will include the updated ACC Tournament schedule in addition to Thursday, March 10th's game winners.
March Madness has kicked into high gear with several exciting games happening in the conference tournaments already. Earlier on Thursday, the Big East saw a thrilling buzzer beater as the UCONN Huskies defeated the Pitt Panthers. ACC fans are hoping for more exciting basketball as their tournament has just started. The PAC-10, Big 12 and SEC are just three other conferences with their games going on too.
Already in today's ACC action, #9 Miami was able to defeat #8 Virginia. According to CBS Sports, Miami rallied from 10 points down in the final minute of the game to bring this one to overtime. Behind Malcolm Grant's 16 points, the Hurricanes advanced to the semifinals where they get the prize of playing #1 seed overall, North Carolina. Boston College also knocked off Wake Forest 81-67 to send the bottom team in the conference home, as many expected would happen.
Later today, #10 seed NC State and #7 seed Maryland will battle on ESPN at 7PM EST. The final game of the day features #6 Virginia Tech as they take on #11 Georgia Tech. That game will be televised on Raycom, or ACC Network. Several of the games can also be viewed online thanks to the latest technology from ESPN.
On Friday, North Carolina gets to play Miami on ESPN starting at Noon. Wake Forest will play Clemson at 2:30PM, also on ESPN2. Duke, the #2 seed, awaits the winner of Maryland vs. NC State, while the #3 seed Florida State gets either VA Tech or GA Tech at 9PM on ESPN2.
March Madness is really bringing insanity to the college basketball nation. Right now the debate is going on about where Duke will be seeded on Selection Sunday. Will both Duke and UNC end up with #1 seeds? Will it be one or the other taking a #1 seed for the Big Dance? The ACC tournament will certainly tell the story for that rivalry's latest chapter!
