From this article: Wis. GOP bypassing Dems on collective bargaining
Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate have voted to strip nearly all collective bargaining rights from public workers after discovering a way to bypass the chamber's missing Democrats.
Â
How were they able to do that? Also from the article:

The Senate requires a quorum to take up any measures that spend money. But Republicans on Wednesday split from the legislation the proposal to curtail union rights, and a special conference committee of state lawmakers approved that bill a short time later.
The move set up a vote in the Senate, which voted mere moments later.

Good for them. They found a way to get it done in spite of the Democrats who fled the state and their duties, and who should all be impeached.

That's so laughable ... the Dems have been doing just that to the whole nation from day 1. They've worked tirelessly to take away my right to NOT be on the government dole with the passage of Obamacare.
But back to the Wisconsin vote: I doubt it would even have been necessary or possible if .... if Miller's compatriots in the Senate had been there, on the floor, doing their due diligence.
Like the Repubs did during the two years of their minority on Capital Hill. They did their due diligence and voted (and lost) and fought and stood their ground (and lost) ... they lost a lot of votes but won a grudging respect (if not total trust) from many Conservatives for their perserverence.
But the Dems up in Wisconsin?
They ran away.
They hid out.
They didn't like the outcome of the election (and that's totally understandable) and so they tried to circumvent it --- as usual.
They wouldn't come home and as a result they weren't around to even put up a fight against the move by those who stayed at their posts. +shrug+
One lone Dem (Peter Barca) tried to stop it ...
However, if he'd had 14 more voices next to him, who knows what could have happened?
Might have passed anyway, but now we'll never know because those 14 were not there to even try to stop it.
They made their own bed; that's what Representative Barca ought to remember ...
