Obama thinks the Tea Party is fueled by racial motives, according to a new book that highlights conversations with the POTUS. Obama allegedly told guests at a private banquet that race was an issue during the political campaigns of 2010.
"Many middle-class and working-class whites felt aggrieved and resentful that the federal government was helping other groups, including bankers, automakers, irresponsible people who had defaulted on their mortgages, and the poor, but wasn't helping them nearly enough," he said of the Tea Party's formation. A guest at the banquet made the suggestion to Obama that the Tea Party's racial fueling can result to their disapproval of a black president, hence their motto of "taking back their country."
But is the Tea Party racist? From an outsider's point-of-view, it sure looks like it. By simply looking at protest snapshots like these of average Tea Party members, it's easy to think the entire group is chock-full of trailer-park types and candidates for the Jerry Springer Show. Racism is still alive in the United States and it's sad, especially when it's so called patriots doing the racial damage.
