Kate Middleton invited her local butcher and postman to her wedding to Prince William, showing that she is not one to lose touch with her local roots.
As the invitations went out, many were surprised to see Kate's family butcher and her postman on the list of attendees. There was even more shock when it became known that while she invited some common folk, she did not invite important dignitaries such as Mr. and Mrs. Obama.
Several local people the Berkshire village of Bucklebury, which is Middleton's hometown, received the gold-embossed invitations in the mail next week. Did the postman deliver his own invitation? That would be something, now wouldn't it?
"We're over the moon, absolutely thrilled. I have known Kate six years,"Â local Chan Shingadia said. "She has brought William in on about three or four occasions....The very first time it was mind-blowing to have a Prince in my store. He likes Viennetta ice cream, he buys that a lot," she added.
"I was surprised to be invited. They have hundreds of guests and they included me. That's wonderful. I am thrilled," local pub owner John Hayley said. "William and Kate have been to my pub about 10 times in the past year. They come in, sit quietly at the table, drink wine and are a lovely couple. They've been in to dine and are very natural, talking to the regulars."
Now that the locals have received their invitations, the next step will be to find appropriate attire to wear to a Royal Wedding. With so many dignitaries present, it will hard to figure out exactly what to wear, what to say and how to say it. But, either way, these people must be thankful that Kate Middleton is such a down-to-earth woman!
