Chelsea Handler will star in a new NBC pilot based on her own book, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea. She will actually play the role of her big sister in the sitcom.
According to a report from Popeater, Laura Prepon, who starred in That '70s Show, will play the role of Handler.
Prepon makes the following statement regarding the new Chelsea Handler sitcom pilot to the media.
"We start in a couple weeks," Prepon said. "I hope NBC gets behind it. There's a lot of buzz. It's different and edgy."
Do you think Chelsea Handler has what it takes to act? She is quite clearly defined as a comedian and talk show host, but acting is another whole realm. Of course the fact that she will be playing the role of her older sister might make the acting a bit simpler.
Prepon says that Chelsea Handler is just perfect for the role of her older sister, and she notes some similarities between herself and Handler as well.
"I'm from Jersey," Prepon said. "Chelsea and I are similar, so it's perfect we play sisters. It's funny, because her vodka is my favorite vodka, too. We both drink the same thing!"
Was that a quote from a real actress or a member of The Jersey Shore cast? It doesn't sound like a particularly intelligent quote, does it? It sort of sounds like something someone with the IQ of Snooki might say.
That certainly makes one wonder what this pilot starring Chelsea Handler and Laura Prepon will be about--and more importantly, how it will fare with the network.
What do you think? Will a show about Chelsea Handler draw a viable audience for a new sitcom?
