Mike O'Malley plays Burt Hummel, Kurt's father, on the hit Fox comedy series, Glee. He's not in every episode, but when he does show up, it's almost guaranteed that there's going to be a dramatic moment (or two). He has signed on for a new Fox pilot, but will that mean a change for his Glee character?
The future for KurtÂ’s father
According to Deadline, O’Malley will be taking the lead for Family Album, a comedy about “a passionate, overly enthusiastic former jock who, after a breakthrough experience on a family vacation returns home with a renewed conviction to ‘bond [with] his family.’” This certainly sounds like an interesting concept, but does it have what it takes to get past a pilot (and if so, past a first season)? So what’s in store for Burt on Glee then?
According to TVLine, fans shouldn’t necessarily worry. Mike O’Malley is already signed on to do six episodes for Glee season 3 (he was only in five episodes in season 1). He has been in six episodes of season 2 so far and does have more coming up, including this week’s “Blame it on the Alcohol” and the following episode. According to O’Malley, “My upcoming scenes are with Kurt, and it’s some really great stuff. It’s the further stage of evolution of Burt needing to accept his son as who he is. They have some conversations Burt never thought he would have to have.” It seems extremely likely that these conversations have something to do with Blaine (and probably the fact that he kisses Rachel during a game of spin the bottle).
What do you think of Mike OÂ’Malley on Glee? Does Family Album sound like a show you would watch?
