After having been sick for over a week, and my boyfriend having been sick twice over the last three weeks, we finally got back into the gym. My how I have missed working out! I learned a hard lesson though.
I spent a bit of time doing weighted squats, some ad/abductor excerises, and a mile on the elliptical. Even though I did not workout my hardest due to the break, I didn't spend enough time afterwords stretching, and have been paying for it since Saturday. My muscles are so sore in my legs I am currently icing them and stretching. Its very painful. I didn't do anything my body can't handle, I just didn't stretch enough.
Stretching is so important, and even though I made sure my workout was much lighter, I should not have skimped on my stretching time. Usually I stretch for a good 15-25 minutes depending on what my workout was, and Saturday I did a measley 8 minutes of stretching. This did no bode well.
Back to the gym tonight, and regardless of my workout, its a full body stretch afterwords for at least 20 minutes!

It is very sore for the body in cold weather, I suppose the reason why
most of the exercise routines like yoga were born from hot climates.
Have you tried any form of dancing? I used to find that dancing toned most
of the body even if the steps were simple and repeated over and over,
as long as the music was good.
I love dancing, but unless I want to travel for classes, they are somewhat unaccessible and I don't do well with videos, I lose motivation.
Tonight I am back at the gym for more squats and I am so excited!
But this seems to be happening everywhere and I have noticed that
clubs, and community halls where there used to be high energy dance classes have shut down
or bought by supermarkets and the gym for me are too expensive.
And I like a more social class where people can have fun.
I see you are very serious about what you do and need to see results.
It is a shame we are limited in our options, but the gym is great. Its a small town, so I always see someone I know.
