NBA All-Star weekend was in full swing, with Saturday night's events on TNT. These included the Haier Shooting Stars, Taco Bell Skills Competition, and the Three-Point Shootout. Here are the official results.
The Haier Shooting Stars saw teams, which included three-person teams representing different cities. These teams consisted of a combination of current NBA and WNBA players with NBA legends. In the finals, it was Team Atlanta winning it as the defending champs; Team Dallas couldn't hit the final half court three-pointer after multiple attempts. Team Atlanta consisted of WNBA star Coco Miller, current NBA star Al Horford (Hawks), and Hawks legend Steve Smith. Horford's big shot from half court was the difference maker.
Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, John Wall, and Derrick Rose competed in the 2011 Taco Bell Skills Competition. This competition involved various dribbling, passing, and shooting drills in a timed obstacle course on the court. The finals came down to a lightning fast Stephen Curry against Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook. In the finals, Curry was almost perfect as he ran the obstacle course, making passes with ease through the targets and hitting his jump shot on the first try. He finished off with a near dunk. A young fan he was representing won a $30,000 scholarship because of Curry's win.
After a performance from Grammy winner Cee Lo Green, it was time to shoot the lights out. The field of competitors for the Three-Point Shootout included quite a crew of long range shooters. All-time three-pointers leader in the NBA, Ray Allen, was among those in the field along with his teammate Paul Pierce. Also in the shootout were Kevin Durant, James Jones, Daniel Gibson, and Dorrell Wright. Ray Allen and Pierce are former winners of the Shootout, but how would they fare in 2011?
