My son and I are staying with his dad (my ex-husband but still a good friend) to help him out while he is being treated for stomach cancer. He just got out of being in the hospital for a month due to the second chemo round. He won’t be on that regimen any longer, it almost killed him. Although he sees the surgical oncologist on Monday, it is quite doubtful they will do surgery. The tumor is in a tricky spot & it is stomach cancer which the chemo didn’t really shrink enough. Since it’s stomach cancer, he has been unable to keep much food down, plus they had to do an intestinal bypass due to a blockage so his capacity is limited. So he probably does not have the stamina for this surgery at this time.
I am wondering if anyone knows any personal survival success stories through alternative cancer treatment methods. I know ablation has worked for some. The doctor is looking at possible radiation and a chemo fanny pack delivering only one drug that Brian was not on previously. But I would like to present him with other possibilities as well. I have been doing some of my own research but personal accounts are always best and most reliable. My ex-husband is a humor columnist for the local paper and he is a very popular man, his friends are thinking of a fundraiser if there is anything his insurance will not cover.
Today we’re picking up the prescription for Marinol, basically a marijuana alternative in a pill. We are hoping it helps with the nausea and appetite problems. The other anti-nausea pills haven’t worked well.
So, I would love any input anybody has. Thanks you guys!
